Escultura
de hinchables dotadas de respiración y movimiento mediante la aplicación de
turbinas, circuitos electrónicos y programación.
Grandes
formas de plástico translúcido, termosellado y texturado invaden el espacio del
MAC en Merced, California.
Obras
cuyo elemento principal es el aire. Una investigación y una lucha para
conseguir que esos grandes volúmenes tengan movimiento o sean sensibles a la
interacción del público. Una fusión
entre art y electrónica, arte e ingeniería. Con la implicación de estudiantes
de Ingeniería electrónica en una de las nuevas piezas, Electric Grass. Esta supuso un auténtico reto tecnológico tratando
de reutilizar 18 motores de aspiradora de mano por medio de la creación de un
circuito electrónico específico y fuentes de alimentación.
Esta
exhibición fue complementaria del curso ART IN
FLIGHT que Olga Diego impartió en la Universidad de California en Merced
en 2017. Esta, junto a otra exhibición en la UCM Art Gallery, la participación
en ARTHop, y dos eventos con artefactos
de vuelo en la universidad, conformaron el proyecto ART IN FLIGHT.
También
tuvo lugar la performance THE BUBBLE WOMAN SHOW para la inauguración de la
exposición dando comienzo así este proyecto en la Universidad de California en
Merced. Un proyecto ideado con la decana Jill Robbins.
El
espacio MAC colaboró con todo el proyecto, siendo mostrado también allí el
artefacto final de vuelo, días antes de su lanzamiento en el lago Yosemite.

Sculpture of inflatables equipped with breathing and movement through the application of turbines, electronic circuits and programming.
Large forms of translucent plastic, heat-sealed and textured with heat invade the MCAC space in Merced, California.
Works whose main element is air. An investigation and a struggle to ensure these large volumes have movement or are sensitive to the interaction of the public. A fusion between art and electronics, between art and engineering. With the involvement of electronic engineering some students worked on one of the new pieces, Electric Grass. This was a real technological challenge trying to reuse 18 hand vacuum motors through the creation of a specific electronic circuits and power supplies.
This exhibition was complementary to the ART IN FLIGHT course that Olga Diego taught at the University of California in Merced in 2017. This, together with another exhibition at the UCM Art Gallery, participation in ARTHop, and two big events with flight performances at the university, formed the ART IN FLIGHT project.
THE BUBBLE WOMAN SHOW performance was also held for the opening of the exhibition, thus beginning this project at the University of California at Merced. A project elaborated with the Dean Jill Robbins.
The MAC space collaborated with the entire project, and the final flight device was also shown there, days before its launch on Lake Yosemite.
